Free MBS item training on offer
TIME is running out for nurses to take advantage of an online chronic disease training course before its free availability expires.
The new e-learning package for practice nurses and Aboriginal health workers is designed to support Medicare item 10997 and give nurses a strong understanding of chronic disease care planning management.
A prerequisite foundation module compromises three units: an overview of chronic disease in Australia, care planning and management information, and self-management support.
Seven disease-specific modules follow, covering arthritis, asthma, cancer, coronary heart disease, dementia and diabetes, plus a new kidney health module.
The module is free until 31 August, after which a fee will be charged.
Designed by the AGPN in partnership with the Royal College of Nursing, Australia (RCNA) and the Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education, the modules can be accessed on the RCNA 3LP website at www.3lp.rcna.org.au/10997.
Upon successful completion of each module, a Certificate of Completion will be awarded, as well as RCNA Continuing Nurse Education points.
