GP recognised for exceptional work
QUEENSLAND GP Dr John Kastrissios has been named the 2008 John Aloizos Medal winner, for his exceptional contributions to the divisions network, at the AGPN forum in Darwin.
A director and founding member of the General Practice Logan Area Network, Dr Kastrissios is also chair of General Practice Queensland and a keen advocate of e-health in general practice.
He has been heavily involved in the establishment of iHealth Care, an email-based register that allows GPs and other health practitioners to securely exchange medical information via instant messages.
Dr Kastrissios said he was humbled by the award, and thanked his wife and children for their support of his after-hours work.
The AGPN award for Program Innovation and Excellence went to Adelaide West General Practice Network, while the award for Network Member of the Year went to GP Network Northside, covering Sydney’s north-west.
