Lenny helps kids learn about carbs

Living with a lifelong condition is not fun for anyone.

But as a child, living with type 1 diabetes can be overwhelming and isolating. In fact, one of the hardest things about the disease is learning to consistently balance physical activity levels with insulin and carbohydrate intake. Enter Carb Counting with Lenny by Medtronic, Inc. This app is a fun and motivating way to help your paediatric patients maintain optimal blood glucose levels.

Key Features: This app introduces the lion, Lenny, who is an ambassador for children’s diabetes education. Through Lenny’s informal instruction, users are able to learn about the carbohydrate values (in grams) of many food items from five important food groups: Starches, Fruit/Veg, Dairy, Meats & Fats and Other. The app also contains four interactive Carb Games.

APP: Carb Counting with Lenny (Australia)

Cost: Free

Compatibility: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch

The verdict: Four stars
