MO readers flying on Virgin Airline flights or travelling in the US may soon catch a familiar artistic style gracing their television and in-flight entertainment screens via a new video series featuring Australian artists.

Sydney based artist and regular MO backpage cartoonist Kerry Thompson – better known to GPs as Kerry Millard for her ‘Millard Moment’ pieces – has been featured in an Australian project called ‘Put Some Colour in your life’ which reveals the processes, philosophies and inspirations of some of the nation’s most interesting contemporary artists.

After some online and digital TV airtime here in Australia, it is now set to go international.

“I come from a science background so I love thinking paradoxically while playing around – in a way it is actually about trying not to think and turning things upside down,” Ms Millard explains of her approach.

“Often when we get to a comfortable place in what we are doing we stop and don’t go beyond that – but if you do something you don’t like or you feel uncomfortable about it,
it often takes you to a place where you can make all sorts of new discoveries and for me that has been really exciting to do in my work.”

The brainchild of Australian artist Graeme Stevenson, the series of videos are online and can be viewed by going to: www.kerrymillardsgallery.com
