THE US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has fined the American Red Cross $US16.18 million [$18.4 million] for failing to comply with federal laws for the collection and manufacture of blood products. An FDA press release announced the charity had been fined $US9.79 million ($11 million) for mismanagement of certain blood products and $US6.39 million ($7.9 million) for good manufacturing practice violations.
