Target CVD risk in migraine without aura

MIGRAINEURS without aura  should join those who experience aura in being regularly checked for vascular risk factors, after more evidence shows a link between  migraine and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD).     A US case-control study involving 6102 migraineurs and 5243 patients without migraine, found those with self-reported migraines with and without aura had double the risk of myocardial infarction and a 50% greater risk of stroke than controls. Pollution’s new health legacy

HIGHER levels of air pollution increase the incidence of conditions such as headache and skin rashes, a new study shows. Darier’s sign was present as indicated by the formation of a wheal and erythema after rubbing one of the lesions (pictured). There was no hepatosplenomegaly or bone tenderness. Lab tests showed ...

Patches herald pityriasis rosea

Important differentials must be considered in the diagnosis of a young man’s rash. PATIENT PRESENTATION A 33-year-old male flight attendant presented with a rash on his chest and back that had started three days before. About two weeks before this, he’d had “the flu” and had noticed a pink patch on his chest, but ignored it. He was single, homosexual and ...
