AUSTRALIAN GPs have begun trialling a new online lung-health tool that may prove a valuable aid in convincing smokers to kick the habit. The Lung Age Estimator, which illustrates individual lung function decline and determines a person’s ‘lung age’, was developed by the Australian Lung Foundation and researchers from the University of Adelaide. It is currently undergoing trials by GPs around the country, and is expected to be available by the end of the year.
