About Us

Welcome to the new AusDoc Platform

For nearly 40 years, the Australian Doctor portfolio of mastheads have kept doctors informed with independent news, opinion, clinical features and CPD-accredited education, providing a trusted environment for the medical community to stay informed.

Given the ever-growing complexity of medicine, a platform where doctors can discuss and debate the latest issues with each other should be of benefit to everyone.

That’s why we are launching the new AusDoc community platform.

The new community platform will allow you to connect with your colleagues across the medical profession as well as keeping you informed with the latest news, opinion, clinical updates and education.

And to ensure you have access to the information you need, on AusDoc you will be able to access all the information from some of Australia’s leading medical mastheads including:

  • Across print, online and e-newsletters, Australian Doctor informs, educates and entertains GPs about the most important political, clinical and latest news shaping general practice.
  • Unique doctor-written opinion and analysis from Medical Observer
  • High-quality CPD-accredited clinical guidance from How to Treat
  • Each morning, 6minutes provides sharp medical related news summaries from across the world
  • Expert practice and business guidance from SmartPractice
  • In-depth coverage of specialist medicine via Specialist Updates
  • Australian Specialist – a quick and efficient way for all non-GP specialists to keep up-to-date on everything that’s happening in general medicine

Our aim is to create a more collaborative future for healthcare in Australia.

Our Belief

We believe doctors are the cornerstone of the Australian health system and recognise that quality care is a major determinant of the health & wellbeing of a society.

We believe that medicine will become more collaborative in the future and that a connected community that harnesses the combined knowledge and commitment of the medical and pharmaceutical industry will better empower all doctors to provide the best healthcare and practice great medicine to help Australians live healthier, longer lives.

Our Editorial Independence

Australian Doctors award-winning editorial team has always been independent, with editors making daily decisions on the content published in the company’s various publications, regardless of commercial, political or personal interests, including those of any proprietors, board members or advertisers.

Its editorial staff are committed to the highest editorial standards, abiding by the MEAA Journalist Code of Ethics which requires journalists to commit themselves to the principles of honesty, fairness, independence and respect for the rights of others.

You can read the full code here.

Our Funding

AusDoc’s commercial activities are designed to ensure the long-term future of our high-quality journalism. Due to its healthcare professional-only audience, AusDoc is legally allowed to accept advertising, content marketing and sponsorship from pharmaceutical companies.

It also accepts advertising, content marketing and sponsorship from other private and public organisations, such as government agencies, medical colleges, medical insurers and software companies.

The Australian Doctor portfolio of mastheads has a separate team of editors and producers who work on commercial content which is clearly labelled as sponsored or promoted or branded on our website and in our magazines to ensure our audience is aware they are engaging with paid for content.

Advertising, content marketing and sponsorship revenue streams make-up the standard business model for traditional publishers including major news organisations and medical publishers worldwide.
